BAR CENTRALA is a social canteen, operating in the catering industry, which is a place of work, internships and apprenticeships for alumni becoming independent from foster care institutions. Bar Centrala was launched on 20.02.2017r in the building of the City Hall in Gdansk at ul. New Gardens 8/12 and operates from Monday to Friday at. 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) and 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays. In the Headquarters, 7 jobs were created, including as many as 5 jobs for people coming from foster care (also a manager)
The Bar Centrala runs a program of activation and vocational education for alumni under the care of the Gdansk Foundation for Social Innovation, aged 16-17 who participate in the so-called “professional education”. work samples. It is a permanent place for internships and apprenticeships aimed at preparing for employment and shaping pro-vocational attitudes of alumni of childcare centers. The involvement of business partner Catering Janusz Malyszko was advisory in nature and concerned industry support, among other things. Adaptation of technological processes to the planned activity, HACCAP, selection of catering equipment and devices. The involvement of the City Hall in Gdansk consisted in integrating the investment activities carried out by the City Hall in Gdansk with the investment activities carried out by the Foundation, developing the conditions for the transfer of premises for the planned activities, and involvement in the promotion of the project.
Today, passing by the City Hall every day you can see the remarkable results of the initiative’s originators. The smell of food being prepared, the bustling staff and the crowds of scrolling canteen guests testify to the rightness of the initiative – both socially and economically.
